The horticultural grafting practice is very old even if was not commonly used until the 20th century. Some tests witness the use of this practice in the old China already for the production of big pumpkins. It is important to say that the arboreal grafting technique/practice seemed to be used already 1.800 years before Christ (BC). Aristotle (384-322 BC) and Theofrast (371-287 BC) talked about grafting use already. St.Paul talks about grafted olive plants through a letter to the Romans. It seems indeed that the grafting practice was already largely spread during the roman Age. Some references to the grafting practice have been founded also on cuneiform Sumerian text and some others much more clear, on ancient Talmud text (Holy Jewish text).
